The televison show 'highway patrol' is both a documentary and reality show as the police are real people dealing with real police situations but reality as the camera crew is able to cut and put together what they wish. they show us what they want us to see not everything that happens.

i think that this show Highway Patrol is a true story but with some of the parts in the show they edit them and the people getting into trouble of the police officers they entertain us because they know the camera is watching them so they start being stupid and they only put it on for our enjoyment and they make sure that we look closly at some of the people so we know that there getting in trouble they zoom insome parts so we see who they arrest and the sound affects when they pull someone over it makes it sound like there already in trouble and they also cut some seens out so the show dosnt go for that long and we dont get bored .... thats what i think about this show.

Another thing they do to make it reality Television is jump from situations to keep the viwers interested. They also add in situations like unregistered equipment and bald tyres which makes this show seem real.

This is because, on tv, editors can choose which parts they want to show. thy can show one person more than the other and make the audience form opinions of people.

It shows people doing what they ]do, but parts have been taken out, re- arranged and edited. There is a voice over and non- diajetic sounds have been added to convey emotion and feelings.

Highway Patrol is both a documentary and reality tv. This is shown as a documentary when the police officer speaks to the camera person and also when the truck driver talks towards the camera aswell, as it is like being interviewed in a documentary. It is then seen as reality tv when the camera crew just follow around the police officers and criminals and show us what they do in the job. The editor of these tv programs can make your oppinion of police officers or criminals vary in whatever they show you on the show, they can leave some information out and not always show the complete truth.

Reality TV is a specific type of television, it is made to the viewers satisfaction. they creators of the show use various editing skills to entertain the viewer. They use effects such as hidden camera's and microphones to release emotions and feeligs that a character may not show if they realised they were secretly being documented.
